I am so, so, so pleased and empowered by this project. Street harassment has been a topic my girlfriends and I, and even my male friends, have discussed endlessly over the years. Especially after experiencing serious repercussions from it - from feeling violated on the daily, loathing a trip down the block just to grab a coffee or walk to school to assaults, rapes, and spiraling into depressions and only wearing black, oversized, long sleeved clothes all summer.
Right now I have come back to my hometown to live in the shitty, lifeless suburbs after many years in Philadelphia. I abhor my life here, but it is kind of wonderful being in the general safety of my car, and walking down a small-town street where the men just say “Hi”, if anything, to a young girl they don’t know.
